Comics Legends and Lore: There were as many different ways of producing a batik as there are Crayola crayons.

Yesterday I discussed in length the origins of the term Batik. I have come to realize that there were as many different ways of producing a batik as there are artists working in the medium. Almost as many ways as there are colors in the largest box of Crayola crayons! As I learn about the health problems of many artists who have adhered to "traditional" methods, I again realize how fortunate I am that the process employed in the computer darkroom does not involve heavy plates, long exposure times, or toxic chemicals. However, as with the early pioneers, the final image is a function of light, tone and composition. Relieved of the dangers associated with the original process, I can only hope to someday master a technique that "mirrors the truth". At Time Less Image we continue to seek exquisite beauty in our images, exploring all techniques, old and new.
