While Sony is announcing new Blu-ray DVD players in Japan this week, Sony and Pioneer are expected to offer $2,000 Blu-ray players in time for the holiday season. Sony’s $2,000 Blu-ray player will include a chip that gives clearer high-def pictures. Sony’s next-cheapest Blu-ray player model will cost $499 and include HDMI support.
