Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer issued a memo expressing admiration for Apple, amid boosted Mac sales and Vista’s public-relations woes. Ballmer also hinted at an iPhone rival built around the Zune media player and Windows Mobile 7, and vowed to change the public’s view of Vista. Meanwhile, Apple’s MobileMe drew criticism for being sluggish and buggy.
