Taking your children to a pet store when you don't actually feel like bringing a pet into your home, can only lead you to regretting your action. You shouldn't be stunned seeing your kids getting hooked and bonded with the cutest puppy that they can find. With the shameful acts that your kids can do in the public particularly at the pet store, you just can't say no their wants added with the sweet face a puppy can cast once it is passed down to you. So between the kids's begging and memories of the household dog from your youth, you're paying for a shopping cart full of dog stuff - plus the pup.

The situation that most buyers tend to fully regret is the instance of where they purchased a dog without even thinking twice. In a matter of time, you will realise that your home and the dog doesn't actually have that particular bond. Then, you tend to start taking the dog for granted as you will no longer have the tendency to take him for a walk or devote your working hours just to feed him. It is something that you would see as a real error or an unplanned birth. You become more annoyed with those little accidents caused by the puppy, its habits of barking during nighttime, his chewing of your furniture and other natural dog traits. For these reasons, dogs are more likely to suffer some sort of violence in the hands of bad owners to the extent that they will abandon their dogs.

Sad to say, the most obvious reason why many dogs end up in a pound is that the heart of dog ownership wasn't that apparent to some adults or to those families who made an impulse buy. Being knowledgeable about certain information that has something to do with the dog such as its traits and possible future size was not the thing that those kinds of keepers considered since they were so amused with the cute and marvellous features of the pup. In a matter of months, the conflict begins. Many dogs in shelters are actually genuine dogs with great potential as pets if they go home with the right family. The dog's only ?crime? was being selected by individuals who were not prepared to include them into their household.

Some breeds of dogs are more demanding than others. Some of them need a lot of hours playing and interacting with you in a day to day basis. Typically, if you can't find a time to interact with them, they are more likely to get your attention by barking all throughout or simply entertain themselves with chewing either their toys or your favorite piece of furniture and other stuff. Other dog types need daily room to run and play. If you want your children to have some special companions, then these kinds of dogs can really serve them well. Some dogs which you can see play well and get along better with older kids may tend to feel uneasy with the kind of interaction that younger kids would give them. You just need to recognise what breed of dog is the best match for your home, household and available time.

Take your time when visiting pet stores or dog breeders and see to it that you when you visit the dogs, you will spend time drawing together with them so that you will know which kind would really fit you. Yes, it's hard to leave those big brown eyes and excited bark, but the thought of giving your dog the best possible home that it can get is something that would motivate you to be certain whether you are ready enough to take the challenge or else the dog would only end up to a shelter. You may want to leave the kids home when you go back to visit the dog and get more facts about the dog's history, behavior and demands.
