An early morning fire at Universal Studios back lot and CityWalk area here in Los Angeles destroyed five buildings and a soundstage and forced the theme park to delay its opening. No injuries were reported.
The blaze started about 4:45 a.m., local time, and surpassed the three-alarm stage as more equipment, helicopters and approx 300 firefighters arrived. The fire, now confined to one building four hours after the initial call, was expected to be under control by 9:25 a.m (I took this photo at 11am). No cause for the blaze has been determined.
