Nvidia Challenges Intel, Others in Smartphone Chips

GPU maker Nvidia is entering the market for smartphone chips, taking on Intel, Broadcom, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments. Nivida CEO Jen-Hsuan Huang told the first day of the Nvision 2008 conference that he expects smartphones to become the next personal computer. Huang said Nvidia’s chip will put computing first and telephone functions second.
